FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Is VBScore free to download?

Yes. VBScore is free to download and free to use for straightforward scorekeeping. VBScore Pro is a one-time upgrade that adds advanced match tools, broadcasting, recording, and streaming.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. You can use VBScore with just an iPhone, just an iPad, just an Apple Watch, or any combination. The Watch is handy when you want the phone to stay free as a display or to control a recording.

Can it track full matches?

Yes, with Pro. VBScore Pro adds match tracking, set logs, and separate deciding-set rules for final games, including best-of-3 and best-of-5 formats.

Can I configure the scoring rules?

Yes, with Pro. You can set points to win, win-by, a point cap, and separate deciding-set rules so scoring matches the format you actually play.

Can I customize team names and colors?

Yes, with Pro. Custom team names and colors make the scoreboard easier for players and spectators to read.

Can spectators follow a live game?

Yes. VBScore can broadcast a live scoreboard to the web. Share the four-character game code or live link and spectators follow along on their own phone, in any browser, in real time. Watching is always free.

Does the live viewer work on any phone?

Yes. Spectators open the live link in a regular mobile or desktop browser — no app required to follow the score.

Can I switch sides during a match?

Yes. You can swap sides manually during a game, and VBScore can also auto-swap sides at game end if you want that behavior.

Setup tips

Get the most out of it.

Keep VBScore open on Apple Watch

On iPhone

  • Open the Watch app → GeneralReturn to Clock.
  • Find VBScore, set Return to Clock to Custom.
  • Choose After 1 hour so it stays open during play.

Or on Apple Watch

  • SettingsGeneralReturn to Clock.
  • Tap VBScoreCustomAfter 1 hour.

Add the watch complication

Add VBScore as a complication on your Apple Watch face so scorekeeping is one tap away before a game starts.

Pair a Bluetooth speaker

If you use voice announcements, connect a Bluetooth speaker so everyone can hear the score called out after each point.

Broadcast for spectators

Start a live broadcast and share the four-character code or link so friends and family follow the score from their own phones.

Use a bigger display

Prop one device on the sideline as the shared scoreboard while the scorekeeper stays on court with the Apple Watch.
